Hospitals in northern Gaza under Israeli fire as Jabalia attack kills 33 | News on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Three partially functioning hospitals treating seriously wounded patients and housing thousands of displaced Palestinian civilians in northern Gaza are now out of service after coming under heavy Israeli fire, a Gaza health official told Al Jazeera, as the siege continues Jabalia enters its third week At least 33 more people were killed in the area.

Israeli forces bombed Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia early Saturday and also shelled Kamal Adwan and Indonesian hospitals in Beit Lahiya in recent hours, Al Jazeera correspondents reported.

“We cannot count the number of people killed. The numbers are shocking,” the official told Al Jazeera.

At least one person was killed and several others injured in the strike at the entrance to the Kamal Adwan Hospital laboratory, Gaza’s Health Ministry said.

At least 11 people were killed in another Israeli attack on the Maghazi refugee camp in the center of the Gaza Strip, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA said on Saturday, adding that people were still missing under the rubble.

A separate Israeli attack on a school housing Palestinian refugees in al-Shati camp, west of Jabalia, also reportedly killed at least seven people.

According to our Al Jazeera team from Gaza, another four people were killed in another Israeli strike in al-Nuseirat refugee camp.

A total of more than 67 Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, according to authorities in the enclave. At least 450 people have been killed since the siege began two weeks ago.

Al Jazeera’s Tarek Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, said witnesses in northern Gaza had told him that the second and third floors of the Indonesian hospital, as well as its courtyard, had been hit, leading to “a series of attacks.” “led” to sacrifices.

At least 40 patients were trapped in the hospital and Israeli tanks had surrounded it, he said.

Meanwhile, the attack on Al-Awda Hospital disrupted the medical facility’s power supply. Witnesses also told Abu Azzoum that the situation in other parts of Jabalia had “deteriorated significantly” since Friday.

“They said that they were surrounded by Israeli tanks and that there was destruction everywhere. They said that the smell of death was in every corner of the Jabalia refugee camp,” he added.

“We must remember that Jabalia has been under a devastating siege for the 15th day and no food or water is entering the area,” Abu Azzoum said.

Communications and internet services were disrupted, disrupting rescue operations, he said, adding that Israeli forces had advanced further into the center of Jabalia and were fighting with Hamas forces.

Meanwhile, Palestinian authorities warned that the death toll from the latest attacks on Jabalia could rise, with some people believed to still be trapped under the rubble.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa said children were among the 33 confirmed dead. At least 85 others were injured, some critically, raising fears there could be more deaths.

The Israeli military said its deployment in Jabalia was intended to prevent Hamas fighters from regrouping for further attacks. However, the Health Ministry in Gaza said most of those killed were civilians.

On Friday, health officials called for the immediate delivery of fuel, medical supplies and food to the three hospitals in northern Gaza, which are overwhelmed by the number of patients and injured.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also accused Israel of preventing at least 50 medical workers from eight groups from entering the Gaza Strip. This is the first case of its kind where entire organizations have been prevented from participating in humanitarian efforts in the besieged area.

The northern Gaza Strip, once home to more than half of the territory’s 2.3 million residents, was reduced to rubble in the first phase of Israel’s onslaught a year ago. According to Gaza health authorities, more than 42,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s genocide in Gaza so far.
