Two dead and 28 injured in Jeep accident

Two passengers died and 28 were injured when an overcrowded jeep met with an accident at Baluwadanda, Kawasoti township, Nawalparasi East district at 11am on Saturday. Nine of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.

According to District Police Department Chief Yadav Dhakal, the victims were identified as Pabitra Masrangi and her brother Pawan, both from Bulingtar. The Jeep Ba Pra 0700 1 Ja 0020 was on its way from Baluwadanda to Kawasoti when it veered off the road, causing the injuries, he said.

Police chief Dhakal said preliminary information suggests that the cause of the accident was an overloaded vehicle, which contributed to the vehicle losing control on a curve.
