1 dead, 2 injured in multiple motorcycle accident in Vilas Co.

LAC DU FLAMBEAU, Wis. (WSAW) – One person is dead and two others were taken to the hospital after two motorcycles, dirt bikes, collided in Lac du Flambeau Friday night.

The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls about a two-motorcycle accident on County Highway H near Sundance Trail around 8:40 p.m. When tribal police and Vilas County sheriff’s deputies arrived, a 911 caller, a paramedic, rendered aid and provided information to first responders.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the two dirt bikes were traveling in opposite directions when they collided head-on. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff. One was flown to Aspirus in Wausau and the other was treated for minor injuries.

Names are being withheld pending notification of families. The crash is currently under investigation by Lac du Flambeau Tribal PD and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
