Coming into this evening, we only had two weeks left until the playoffs. In a critical heavyweight interdistrict battle against two of the state’s best teams, Scranton Prep came out on top.

Jersey Shore has been very successful in recent years. Last year they suffered just one loss all season, a 44-19 loss to the Selinsgrove Seals. The success continued through most of the regular season in 2024. Coming into tonight’s competition, they had only suffered two defeats. Those losses came to undefeated Shamokin and one of the state’s best teams in Hollidaysburg. WR Evan Snyder is one of the best players in his area. In 8 games, Snyder has rushed for 902 yards and 12 touchdowns. If Scranton Prep wins, they have to stop Snyder.

Scranton Prep had a phenomenal 2024 season. The Cavaliers are undefeated in Pennsylvania. Their only defeat came at the hands of Canisius, the power from Buffalo New York. Scranton Prep has a plethora of impressive wins including Loyola Blakefield (MD), Valley View and Deleware Valley. This win against Jersey Shore will be at the top of the list of impressive accomplishments in 2024. QB Will Mcpartland was a difference maker for the Cavs and it stayed that way in the win.

Jersey Shore vs. Scranton Prep, here’s how it went:

The home Bulldogs came out strong in the first quarter. Jersey Shore RB Bo Sechrist made a huge run that put the Bulldogs within striking distance. Then QB Elijah Jordan was able to score the first points of the game.

Scranton Prep refused to sit back. In the 2nd quarter, Will Mcpartland managed to find the end zone to tie the game.

After Mcpartland had his fun, another Cavalier got in on the action. Louis Paris found a gap and hit it, making a spin and giving his Cavaliers 6 points.

Another touchdown from Paris gave Cavalier a 20-7 Scranton Prep lead.

Both teams continued to trade points until the score was 27-19 in favor of Scranton Prep late in the fourth quarter. Jersey Shore would need a TD and a 2PT conversion to tie it and send it to OT, Scranton Prep had other plans. A QB sack was enough to end the game with a win for the Scranton Prep Cavalier.

Even with a loss, Jersey Shore is still a good team. They’ve never lost to a good team, they’ve all been great teams. Scranton Prep was able to make Jersey Shore unpleasant enough times to succeed. Big plays killed Jersey Shore and made it difficult for them to stay in the game. Jersey Shore travels to Central Mountain to conclude the regular season Friday night at 7 p.m.

The Cavaliers win again. They were able to recover from the initial adversity as Jersey Shore scored their first touchdown. Scranton Prep then rallied 20 unanswered players to give them a commanding lead. Although Scranton Prep allowed a comeback. They still looked impressive in their win. Of the win, head coach Terry Gallagher said: “I thought our kids fought back. “We have some good kids. We made one more stop. The quarterback that Jersey Shore has is really good, but our kids did a good job tonight.” Scranton Prep is at North Pocono on Friday at 7 p.m.
