A fiery crash between two 18-wheelers in Montgomery County left one driver dead and another injured.

Alabama State Troopers on Friday identified the fatality as Idrissa Sidibe. He was 61 years old and lived in New York City.

The accident occurred at 6 p.m. Wednesday on US 231, about five miles south of Montgomery.

ALEA Lt. Jeremy Burkett said Sidibe was driving a Freightliner tractor-trailer that collided head-on with an international tractor-trailer driven by 28-year-old Wesley C. Jenkins of Oklahoma.

The 18-wheeler was completely engulfed by flames, Burkett said.

Sidibe was pronounced dead at the scene. Jenkins was injured and taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.

The police investigation is ongoing.
