Police in suburban Des Plaines released surveillance photos earlier this month of a cyclist wanted in the stabbing of a motorist, authorities said.

A series of photos released Friday by Des Plaines police showed the suspect who allegedly stabbed a man to death in the area of Miner Street and Metropolitan Way on Oct. 11.

The victim said he was traveling westbound on Miner Street when he encountered a bicyclist in the roadway and “words were exchanged” between the two. The cyclist then pulled up alongside the driver’s vehicle and began punching him through the open window.

When the driver tried to defend himself, the cyclist pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim multiple times, police said. The suspect was said to be between 30 and 40 years old and was wearing a gray tank top, khaki shorts and carrying a backpack.
