GUILFORD, CT (WFSB) – A 20-year-old man was arrested after shots were fired in Guilford late Wednesday night.

According to police, at approximately 11:43 p.m., units responded near Whitfield Street to a report of someone firing shots from a vehicle.

The investigation revealed that he displayed a loaded firearm with an extended magazine, pointed the weapon at victims in another vehicle and fired the weapon. He then fled the scene.

He was taken into custody on Friday. After a search of him, his vehicle and his home, officers found the weapon used, drugs, a fully loaded magazine with over 30 rounds, ammunition and a machine gun conversion device.

Numerous charges were filed against him, including criminal possession of a firearm and possession with intent to sell hallucinogens.

He is being held on a $500,000 first warrant bond and a $250,000 second warrant bond. He is scheduled to appear in New Haven court on Monday.

“There is no place for gun crime in Guilford and we will always work diligently to protect the Guilford community from gun violence,” Guilford police said in a statement.
