Witness reports accident in front yard during police chase in several counties

A police chase in Bedford and Campbell counties ended in a crash in Campbell County, officials said.

According to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies were alerted to a chase that began in neighboring Bedford County.

CCSO said the driver crashed in Campbell County, but the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office will respond to the scene.

Virginia State Police said their department is also investigating the incident.

“Virginia State Police are investigating an accident that occurred this afternoon at the intersection of Route 43 (Bedford Highway) and Bishop Creek Road,” VSP said.

VSP also added that injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Police said the call first came into their office at 3:11 p.m

ABC13 has a crew at the crash scene. According to the scene, two cars appeared to be involved in the accident: a black sedan and a white SUV.

We also spoke to a woman at the scene of the accident who said she witnessed the whole thing.

“The black car came out of Bishop Creek Road, a bunch of police cars were chasing him, and the white car that’s here now – the black car hit him and he went airborne, fell three, four or “I flipped over five times and landed in my front yard over here,” said Kay Adkins, who lives where the accident occurred. “And the police had their guns pointed at the gentleman who was driving the black car.”
