Michigan man arrested for possession of child sexually abusive material

Kevin Kowalsky, 40, of Alpena, was arrested for possession of child sexually abusive material.

In August 2024, detectives from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Alpena Post investigated a tip that was forwarded to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The tip identified the 40-year-old man from Alpena who allegedly possessed child sexually abusive material (CSAM). Police identified Kowalsky, of Alpena, as the suspect.

Officers executed multiple search warrants on his Google accounts and discovered several CSAM videos and photos.

On October 17, police obtained a search and arrest warrant for Kowalsky.

Officers used MSP resources to arrest the 40-year-old man at his residence without incident.

Kowalsky was arrested and taken to the Alpena County Jail on a nine-count warrant.

Kowalsky was charged Friday (Oct. 18) in Alpena’s 88th District Court with six counts of child sexually abusive material (possession), one count of child sexually abusive material (aggravated possession) and two counts of using a computer commit crimes.

The 40-year-old was given a $100,000 cash bond. Kowalsky’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 23 at 1:45 p.m
