The Snowmobile Show in Maine opens its doors

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) – Although the leaves are falling, snow is just around the corner and the Maine Snowmobile Show began today in Augusta.

The weekend-long event at the Civic Center brings snowmobilers, businesses and vendors together to show off their gear before winter arrives.

In addition to a main showroom, the event also featured an area specifically for vintage snowmobiles.

The money raised over the weekend goes directly to the various clubs and volunteers across the state.

“The Maine snowmobile community is one big, happy family. The MSA clubs are all volunteers, they are the ones who build the trails, they are the ones who build the bridges. They get grants from the state, they get money from registrations, but I’ve seen it grow a lot in the last five years, it’s really taken off. We have over 285 clubs, 14,000 miles of trails and it’s just incredible what we do. “We did, we’re a great team,” responded Al Swett, director of operations for the Maine Snowmobile Association.

The event runs until Saturday and Sunday.

It only costs eight dollars to get in the door. Further information about MSA can be found here.
