The Killeen Police Department is holding a contest to name the new K9

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) – Killeen police are asking for the community’s help in naming their newest K9 officer and are holding a naming contest.

According to a Facebook post, the dog, a two-year-old Dutch Shepherd, is being trained in both search and rescue and explosive detection.

Members of the community are encouraged to leave their suggestion either in the comments of the Facebook post or at one of three locations in Killeen where suggestion boxes are said to be available:

  • The Killeen Police Department headquarters is located at 3304 Community Blvd.
  • Town & Country Veterinary Medical Center is located at 505 E. Elms Rd.
  • The Pet Supermarket is located at 2602 Trimmier Rd.

The competition runs until October 25th. The three best suggestions will be posted online shortly afterwards so that the community can vote.

“We invite the entire community to participate in this fun competition,” Killeen police wrote. “Let’s get creative!”
