Sylvan Park neighbors were “surprised” by the shooting on Charlotte Pike.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man is in critical condition after Metro Nashville Police said he was shot in broad daylight on a busy Nashville road near Richland Park.

MNPD said the shooting started on Charlotte Pike near 46th Avenue N. The area was cordoned off Friday afternoon as investigators counted at least nine shell casings in the middle of the street.

The victim was in a silver sedan and a family member drove to get help, MNPD said. The car stopped right in front of The Produce Place, a neighborhood grocery store where Jordan Miller works.

“I saw some blood on the street,” he said. “When I looked outside there was a woman sitting on the hood of a vehicle. She was hysterical and seemed somewhat upset about what had happened.”

According to MNPD, the victim was sitting in the back seat of the silver sedan when WSMV4 crews counted at least five bullet holes. They said the victim was an 18-year-old male and had been shot multiple times.

“He didn’t seem to respond,” Miller said. “I’m not sure, though. It didn’t look very good.”

Miller said the scene surprised Sylvan Park neighbors and he won’t forget it.

“Some crazy things have happened in this store, but nothing like this,” Miller said. “It’s hard to put into words.”

Metro Police believe this was a targeted shooting and the suspect is still at large.
