Pioneer agronomist discusses harvest schedule and yield reports

An agricultural expert says he has high expectations for the 2024 harvest season.

“The beans are really ready and honestly the corn here is going to be ready quickly too,” said Brandon Walter of Pioneer.

Walter says the pace of harvest has been exceptionally fast and yields have been better than expected in many areas of the Corn Belt.

“Especially here in Iowa,” he said. “Of course there is a little more variability in certain areas. You get up in northwest Iowa, it’s a little wetter up there. Overall conditions there are tougher, but we are very optimistic about yields based on what we are hearing from farmers across the Corn Belt.”

He says conditions on the brownfield varied throughout the growing season. “There was adequate rainfall most of the time and then it got really dry towards the end of the year.”

Walter spoke with Brownfield Friday morning at Corteva headquarters in Johnston, Iowa.
