DeSoto man killed, 2 people seriously injured in crash on US 67 in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A DeSoto man was killed and two people were seriously injured in a vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 67 at the Meyer Road intersection in Jefferson County on Thursday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred around 11:14 a.m. when two northbound vehicles failed to brake for a red light on US 67.

As the first vehicle, a Subaru SUV, approached the intersection with Meyer Road, the driver, Gerald Feuling, 75, of Pearland, Texas, attempted to stop at a red light but began to slide, the highway patrol said.

According to the patrol, the front of a Toyota sedan driven by Todd T. Tyson, 44, of DeSoto, struck the rear of the Subaru SUV.

Tyson was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. A passenger in the Toyota sedan, Christa J. Cheatam, 28, also of DeSoto, was seriously injured. The patrol said Tyson was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash.

A passenger in the Subaru SUV, Catherine J. Feuling, 75, also of Pearland, Texas, was also seriously injured and taken to a local hospital. Driver Gerald Feuling suffered minor injuries in the accident and was also treated at a local hospital.
