Alpena man arrested on nine felony child abuse charges

ALPENA COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) — An Alpena man was arrested on a nine-count felony warrant after a search warrant revealed he had multiple videos and images containing child sexually abusive material.

The investigation into 40-year-old Kevin Kowalsky began after Michigan State Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Officers executed multiple search warrants on Kowalsky’s Google accounts and discovered multiple CSAM videos and photos.

On October 17, police obtained a search warrant and an arrest warrant for Kowalsky. Police arrested him at his home without incident.

Kowalsky was booked into the Alpena County Jail on a nine-count warrant. Kowalsky was charged Oct. 18 in Alpena’s 88th District Court with six counts of sexually abusive material (possession), one count of sexually abusive material (aggravated possession) and two counts of using computers to commit a felony.

He was given a $100,000 cash bond. Kowalsky’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 23 at 1:45 p.m
