D.C. Superior Court Judge Jason Park on Oct. 17 sentenced a defendant who committed a knife attack to 18 months in prison with a 12-month suspended sentence.

On August 22, Alicia Faison, 35, pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon for her involvement in a non-fatal knife attack on April 22 in the 4000 block of G Street, SE.

According to court documents, Faison let two homeless people into her apartment. She left and when she returned she started screaming, grabbed two knives from the kitchen and stabbed one of the people multiple times in the hands, arms and neck.

Prosecutors noted that Faison also tested positive for PCP at the time of the incident and that she has a history of non-compliance with supervised release.

Faison’s defense attorney, Jamison Kohler, noted that Faison took full responsibility for her actions and did not attempt to accuse anyone in the courtroom. Kohler also stated that Faison’s noncompliance stemmed from a case that was nearly a decade old, not this one.

After considering all arguments, Judge Park agreed with the defense’s proposal and sentenced Faison to 18 months in prison, 12 months probation and three years of supervised release. He also ordered Faison to complete an anger management course.

No further dates have been set.
