RCMP investigating stabbing at Vernon motel

Police cordoned off a downtown motel on Friday morning, October 18th.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are on scene following a stabbing late Thursday night at the Schell Motel on 30th Avenue.

Police received a report of a fight that occurred in the parking lot of a business in the 2800 block of 35th Avenue around 9:40 p.m. on Oct. 17.

Upon arrival, officers learned from witnesses that a man had been stabbed in the parking lot.

Before police arrived, the victim was taken to hospital where his condition remains stable.

The subsequent investigation led to police locating two separate units in the building, both of which were secured pending search warrants being obtained and executed.

We are still in the very early stages of the investigation and are working to establish the circumstances that led to the incident. said Const. Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer. Police will continue to maintain a presence on site and in the surrounding area as officers continue their investigation.
