One of two victims taken to hospital after assault, apartment burglary in Hanover; Suspects at large

A man and a woman were injured after two suspects from Maryland allegedly attacked them and broke into their Hanover home, according to police.

Late Thursday evening, Hanover County police were dispatched to a home in the first block of Pleasant Street for a report of a burglary and assault.

Police say they learned through an investigation that a man and a woman from Maryland went to the home to meet a 25-year-old woman outside, where she was reportedly attacked by the other woman. This caused the woman to retreat into her home, police said.

The male suspect is then said to have entered the house and physically attacked her and a 24-year-old man inside. According to police, both suspects fled the scene.

The female victim in this case was transported to UPMC Hanover for treatment of her moderate injuries. The male victim suffered minor injuries and refused treatment.

Police said the investigation led to the identification of the two suspects, one a 47-year-old Maryland man and the other a 34-year-old Maryland woman. Further investigation revealed that the suspects were known to the victims and knew that the incident was not a random act.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Hanover County Police at (717) 637-5575 or submit a tip online.
