Police officer escapes harrowing ‘attack’ on Halloween decorations

Police officer escapes harrowing ‘attack’ on Halloween decorations

An Ohio police officer is doing well after he was “attacked” by a Halloween display while patrolling a neighborhood.

How the “attack” on the Halloween exhibition came about

The Bay Village Police Department recently shared a video on its Facebook page titled “Bay Village Officer Attacked by Halloween Display.” The video includes dashcam footage from the officer’s patrol car.

In the nearly three-minute clip, the police vehicle drives through a residential area before hitting a giant orange blob in the middle of the road.

“On Monday, October 14, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the area of Wolf Road to retrieve a runaway pumpkin,” the department said.

In the video, an officer can be seen getting out of the car and trying to corral a giant inflatable pumpkin that flew out of someone’s yard. The officer was no match for the air-filled decoration as it continued to blow toward him and the police vehicle.

Eventually, the officer calls for backup as more help is needed to get the pumpkin off the street and back into the resident’s yard.

If you’re having trouble laughing at the video, rest assured that everyone featured in the clip is.

“Fortunately, no officers (or pumpkins) were injured during the event,” the department said.

Video goes viral after pumpkin rescue

The video has been a hit since it was shared on Facebook earlier this week. So far, it has generated more than 65,000 views and nearly 500 shares on the platform.

The comments left on the post are almost as entertaining as the video, with several suggesting that the clip looked like it came straight from a movie.

“When pumpkins attack!” “Could be the next bad SyFy movie,” said Michelle Kimmel.

Another commentator made an apt comparison to The Rover from the late 1960s British television show The prisoner.

“The pumpkin was apparently just watching James and the Giant Peach,” commented Danica Wagner-Kurtz.
