All 14 Haryana ministers crorepatis; Nobody faces criminal proceedings: ADR

Chandigarh: All 14 newly appointed Haryana ministers are ‘crorepatis’ with an average wealth of Rs 30.82 crore, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), which also said that no minister has filed criminal cases against himself have. According to the report, ADR and Haryana Election Watch analyzed the affidavits of 14 ministers, including Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

None of the ministers had initiated criminal proceedings against them, it was said.

Of the 14 ministers analyzed, all 14 are ‘crorepatis’ and the average assets analyzed are Rs 30.82 crore, it said.

It said the minister with the highest declared total assets was Shruti Choudhry, granddaughter of former chief minister Bansi Lal, from Tosham constituency with assets worth Rs 134.56 crore.

The minister with the lowest declared total assets is Shyam Singh Rana from Radaur constituency with assets of Rs 1.16 lakh crore.


According to the report, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, an alumnus, has declared assets worth over Rs 5 crore while senior BJP leader Anil Vij has declared assets worth Rs 1.49 crore. Another minister, Vipul Goel, the MLA from Faridabad, has declared assets worth over Rs 100 crore and Arti Rao has declared assets worth over Rs 68 crore. Ten ministers have declared liabilities, with Shruti Choudhry being the minister with the highest liability at Rs 13.37 crore.

Three ministers have declared that they have education up to grade 12, while 11 have declared that they have education up to graduate level and above.

Four ministers reported their age as 31 to 50 years old, while ten ministers reported their age as 51 to 80 years old.

The Cabinet has two women ministers – Shruti Choudhry and Arti Singh Rao.

Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma, who has also been a four-time MP, is a trained dentist.

Another minister, Krishan Kumar Bedi, has a master’s degree in geography, while minister Gaurav Gautam has a master’s degree in mass communication.

Nayab Singh Saini took oath as Haryana Chief Minister on Thursday at a grand ceremony in Panchkula attended by a galaxy of NDA leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and thousands of people from across the state.

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Saini for his second term.
