Log truck driver charged in fatal crash in Rutherford County involving a toddler

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The driver of a Tennessee logging truck is facing charges in connection with the crash that killed a toddler on Couchville Pike in Rutherford County, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report.

The report states that the log truck was driven by 61-year-old Christopher B. Holloway and was traveling on Couchville Pike with an improperly secured boom on the night of Oct. 10.

The boom swung into oncoming traffic and struck the front of a 2014 Nissan Versa. After the accident, the truck came to a controlled stop at the scene of the accident. The Nissan left the road and came to a stop in a private driveway.

According to the THP report, the accident injured the driver and passenger of the Nissan and also killed a two-year-old boy. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Holloway faces multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault.
