A 19-year-old man killed his mother’s boyfriend after an argument, St. Petersburg police say

A 19-year-old man is charged with murder after police say he killed his mother’s boyfriend after an argument in St. Petersburg on Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., officers were called to a suspicious death at a home in the 3000 block of 51st Avenue South, St. Petersburg police said in a news release. When officers arrived, they found 54-year-old Otis Moore dead inside the home.

Police said Moore suffered blunt force trauma to his upper body and that no one else was home at the time.

Investigators determined that Moore lived at the home with his girlfriend and her son, Jha’Quel Maynor, who killed him after the two got into an argument, the release said.

Maynor was charged with first-degree murder early Friday morning at the Pinellas County Jail. Further information was not initially available.
