Doctor Who’s Sharon D. Clarke commands the room in the first glimpse of Ellis

Although Ellis insists that she is only there to help, she is often given the cold shoulder by local investigators, who see her arrival as damning evidence of her own abilities.

In each episode of the upcoming three-part drama, the detective arrives at a different police station where she must win over her critics and solve the case that has left them all baffled.

Clarke is known to Doctor Who fans as Grace O’Brien, grandmother of the Thirteenth Doctor’s companion Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole), with other appearances in Lost Boys and Fairies, Mr. Loverman” and a current Young Vic production of “Death of a Salesman”.

Ellis’ regular cast also includes Andrew Gower (The Winter King) and Allison Harding (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!), with an ensemble of guest actors appearing in each episode.

The synopsis for Episode 1 of Ellis reads: “When 18-year-old Rowan Edwards is found dead, DCI Ellis is asked by ACC Alison Leighton to take over the investigation. Rowan’s friend Maggie hasn’t been seen since Rowan’s death, and they need that.” Results quickly.

“Rowan’s mother, a former MP, has doubts about the abilities of the local police, but the current senior investigating officer is certain he has the killer in his sights and is less than impressed that he has been left off the case. “

“He assigns DS Chet Harper [Gower] to keep an eye on Ellis and not trust her at all. Ellis begins to dig beneath the surface of the town and soon realizes that the parents in Hanmore know nothing about their children’s lives.
