Vigil held for brothers, one of whom died in crash in Mystic

UNCASVILLE, CT (WFSB) – A community in eastern Connecticut continued to suffer from the death of a 14-year-old student.

Carson Wilson was killed in a car accident in Mystic on Monday. Three other teenagers were injured, including Carson’s older brother Skyler.

Students and staff at St. Bernard School in Uncasville said they had been praying for the family and thinking of their friend.

“It was just a tough week, but together we got through it,” St. Bernard lacrosse captain Ben Howes said.

On Friday morning, St. Bernard School students gathered at Carson Wilson’s house.

“Carson was a ray of sunshine,” said Don Macrino, principal of St. Bernard School. “When he walked into the classroom he seemed to have an impact on everyone. The classroom would just light up.”

Carson was a freshman and a lifelong lacrosse enthusiast, like his older brother Skyler.

“Carson was honestly a little brother to all of us at St. Bernard,” Ben Howes said. “He was just always in the hallway playing around. We could always just joke around with him and it will just be so sad that he won’t be with us anymore.”

Skyler Wilson was still in the hospital Friday.

“He’s a great big brother,” said Dave Howes, head coach of the lacrosse team. “So I got to know Carson and his other little brother because they came to all the games and Skyler always included them in our group. So I was really excited to have Carson this year.”

Both boys were newly enrolled at St. Bernard; But Skyler had played for the school’s lacrosse team for several years and had formed a close bond on the field.

Carson had hoped to join this fraternity in the spring.

“I personally never had the opportunity to play lacrosse with Carson, but I’m just going to hate that I never got to,” Ben Howes said.

Although the spring lacrosse season is still months away, coaches and players are already thinking about other ways to honor them when this team takes the field.
