A fatal crash on WV State Route 214 leaves a Kentucky man dead

YAWKEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A tragic accident on Thursday, October 17th claimed the life of a Kentucky man who was working on WV State Route 214 in Yawkey, Lincoln County.

According to authorities, Trooper RS ​​Clagg responded to the scene following reports of a fatal accident. Preliminary findings indicate that Venancio Motta Santos, 44, of Shelbyville, Kentucky, was employed as a flagman for a tree company and was standing on the edge of the right side of the road.

The incident occurred when Jimmy Wilburn, 47, of Sumerco, WV, was driving a black Chevrolet Silverado, failed to stop in time and struck Motta Santos. The victim was transported to CAMC General Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
