Wayne, NJ – Car accident with serious injuries involving NJ Transit bus on Alps Road

Wayne, NJ (October 17, 2024) – A personal injury car accident occurred Thursday morning when a man collided with a bus operated by New Jersey Transit in Wayne, resulting in significant injuries to both the driver and a passenger. Wayne police reported that Caban was under the influence of heroin at the time of the accident and was suspected of possessing heroin. He is charged with two counts of vehicular assault, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He has also been charged with several traffic violations, including drunk driving, negligent driving, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane. Authorities discovered that Caban was not wearing a seatbelt during the accident.

Firefighters provided assistance at the scene, ensuring the safe recovery of the vehicles involved and helping to control traffic until the situation stabilized.
