The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission has received and presented updates on several housing projects underway in Vincennes.

The Bierhaus Flatts project is in a so-called “holding pattern” due to an issue regarding a loan with the Indiana Housing Finance Authority.

During Thursday’s meeting, RDC member Greg Parsley discussed concerns that the city could be asked to assume some of the financial risk for the project, which he said the city was unwilling to do. The next steps are in the hands of the developer. This project involves the construction of a complex on Bierhausboulevard with 200 multi-family residential units.

Meanwhile, plumbing work continues at the Oliphant project downtown while electrical work begins. Board member Beth Meeks says communications from developers indicate there are plans to begin the elevator next month. A completion date has not been set. This project involves the conversion of the Oliphant building into condominiums.

Additionally, RDC President Tim Smith reported that the first home built by DC Developers on Thompson Drive will soon hit the market and additional custom homes will be built following the sale.
