Shots are fired at Pittsburgh police officers as the search for an armed suspect continues

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Allegheny County police are searching for a Wilkinsburg man accused of shooting at Pittsburgh police officers on Thursday.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., two plainclothes detectives were conducting surveillance on 40-year-old Darrell Barham’s vehicle, which was parked in the 100 block of Newfield Drive in Penn Hills. Barham exited a residence and saw investigators leaving the scene in their unmarked vehicle.

Barham got into his vehicle and followed them closely. The detective was on Hulton Road near Iowa Street when he heard multiple gunshots and saw muzzle flashes coming from Barham’s vehicle.

Barham faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, failure to possess a firearm and recklessly endangering another person.

Barham is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and he weighs approximately 210 pounds. He is currently on federal probation and should be considered potentially armed and dangerous. If you see him, police say you should not approach him and call 911.
