Noussair Mazraoui is available for the game against Brentford despite a heart scare

Erik ten Hag spoke to the media in Carrington this afternoon and gave a positive update on Manchester United right-back Noussair Mazraoui.

The club confirmed on Thursday that the Moroccan right-back, who missed the October international break due to minor heart surgery, has returned to training with his teammates.

United also said Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho also took part in training after, like Mazraoui, they sat out of international duty.

Many members of the press and people on social media have exaggerated the severity of Mazraoui’s condition, but Ten Hag gave us more good news this afternoon by stressing that the Moroccan defender is available for selection against Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday.

“Injuries certainly don’t help, you need players who are available to perform.” Ten Hag told reporters after suffering countless injuries during the disappointing 2023/24 season, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“Kobbie and Harry are out for a few weeks but Mazraroui is good news. He has returned to the training pitch and will be available tomorrow.”

Mazraoui suffered heart palpitations in the goalless draw against Aston Villa before the international break and was substituted at half-time. He was expected to be out for a few weeks, but he has recovered more quickly than club staff expected.

United fans have not seen Luke Shaw or Tyrell Malacia this season due to injuries.

Both are recovering and Malacia was pictured training with the team in Carrington on Thursday.

Ten Hag was asked about the left-back duo and when fans can expect to see them both back in contention for United’s roles.

The manager gave a none too promising answer, adding: “We cannot force their return and must do it wisely. We don’t want them to come back and be eliminated quickly, but of course we hope they come back as quickly as possible because this team needs a left full-back.”
