Press release

ETNA GREEN – An Oct. 17 accident on U.S. 30 in Etna Green involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck resulted in a man being airlifted from the scene due to his injuries.

On Thursday, October 17, at 2:41 p.m., Indiana State Police Trooper Alan Lehman responded to a collision between a tractor-trailer and a van in the eastbound lanes of US 30. Preliminary investigation by Lehman indicates that a 2014 white Mercedes van driven by Felix Farinola, 49, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, traveling east on US 30 in the right lane behind a blue 2006 Peterbilt towing a covered trailer.

The Peterbilt came to a stop at the red light at the SR 19 intersection when the Mercedes failed to stop in time and rear-ended the Peterbilt’s trailer. Farinola was flown from the scene to a Fort Wayne hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Peterbilt, Michael Worsham, 74, Bourbon, was uninjured in the accident.

Although neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have caused this crash, it is suspected that Farinola was following too closely. Nothing is currently known about Farinola’s condition.

ISP was assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Mentone Police Department, Etna Township Fire Department and Lutheran EMS.
