Driver killed after fiery collision with tree near Hobby Airport

A driver died overnight Friday after crashing into a tree near Hobby Airport and it catching fire.

Details are limited because this is an active investigation, but Houston Police Department officers were called to Clearwood and Hollock on Gulf Fwy just before 2:30 a.m

There they found a burning car after it crashed into a tree. The unknown driver was the only occupant of the car and was found dead in the burning vehicle.

No further details have been released at this time, but police will share more information as their investigation continues.
