Rooney leaves St Mirren after assault charges

Shaun Rooney has left St Mirren by “mutual agreement”, the Paisley club have announced.

The 28-year-old had been suspended for assault in connection with an incident at a takeaway in Glasgow last month.

The full-back made just ten appearances for St Mirren after hitting free contract in the summer.

A short statement from the Scottish Premiership club said it would have “no further comment” on the matter.
