Man arrested after machete attack on SEPTA bus

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A 45-year-old man was taken into custody early Thursday morning after an altercation involving a machete on a SEPTA bus, police said. The incident occurred around 2:23 a.m. in the 400 block of N. Broad Street, where officers responded after being alerted by a passerby.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men covered in blood. One of the men, a 61-year-old, was holding a meat cleaver but complied with orders to drop the weapon. Officers later learned that the victim was the 61-year-old man who had snatched the cleaver from his attacker. The victim was taken to Jefferson Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

The 45-year-old suspect was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
