Ukrainian forces shoot down 80 Russian attack drones overnight

The defense forces have shot down 80 drones that Russian invaders had used to attack Ukraine since the evening of October 17.

This was announced by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a post on Telegram, reports Ukrinform.

According to the report, since 8:00 p.m. on October 17, Russians have been attacking Ukraine with Shahed attack UAVs and drones of unspecified type (fire areas: Kursk, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk).

As of 8:30 a.m., the Luftwaffe’s radio engineering troops discovered and tracked 135 enemy drones.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, EW units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the attack.

As a result of the air battle, 80 enemy drones were shot down in the Odessa, Sumy, Cherkasy, Kiev, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Poltava, Khmelnytsky, Rivne, Kharkiv, Kherson, Volyn and Vinnytsia regions.

44 Russian drones disappeared from radar, two flew to Belarus and up to 10 enemy UAVs are in the airspace of central Ukraine.

Combat operations would continue and information would be updated, the Air Force emphasized and urged not to ignore the air raid warning.

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of October 18, Ukrainian armed forces destroyed all Russian drones heading towards Kiev.
