Man is accused of killing his father-in-law in a stabbing in downtown Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police say a man is accused of killing his father-in-law after an early morning knife attack in the central Las Vegas Valley.

It happened at 2:24 a.m. Thursday in the 2800 block of South Decatur Boulevard.

When Las Vegas Metro Police arrived, they found a man in an apartment with apparent stab wounds. The man was later identified as the suspect’s father-in-law and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Las Vegas Metro investigators later determined that the deceased was involved in a verbal argument with his son-in-law, who was 31-year-old Aristides Matute. During the fight, investigators said Matute found a knife and stabbed his father-in-law.

Matute was later arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center where he faces an open murder charge.

Anyone with information can call Las Vegas Metro Police at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
