Montoursville man faces series of child sexual assault charges | News, sports, jobs

Joshua Joseph Kutza, 34, of 1200 Cherry St., Montoursville, faces numerous child sexual assault charges after two juveniles came forward claiming he had inappropriate contact with them in separate incidents between 2019 and 2022. Lycoming Regional Police said in an affidavit.

Both alleged victims were 12 years old at the time of their respective alleged encounters with Kutza.

The first alleged victim told police that Kutza would frequently expose himself to the minor, even though he was told it made him uncomfortable.

The second set of charges stem from a school counselor’s report on the child line in which a teenage female confided that Kutza forced her to perform a sexual act on him one summer night in 2022, court documents say.

After attacking the teen, Kutza told her to stay quiet or he would cause problems with her family, court documents show.

In the two cases, Kutza was charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary sexual assault, involuntary sexual assault, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, six counts of indecent assault, four counts of sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and two counts each of corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor and indecent exposure.

District Judge Denise Dieter, while agreeing that Kutza is entitled to bail, imposed several strict restrictions on Kutza to ensure the safety of the alleged victims, including requiring him to wear a GPS monitor, establishing significant exclusion zones around the alleged victims and the corresponding order he has no contact with the alleged victims, witnesses or other minors.
