Odisha man held for years for sexually abusing his minor daughter

Rourkela: In a most horrific incident, police in Sundargarh district of Odisha have arrested a man accused of sexually abusing his 13-year-old daughter for years. The accused, whose identity has not been revealed, is an employee of a PSU in Rourkela and was arrested from Sector 15 on Thursday evening after his minor daughter approached the police.

The defendant reportedly had two daughters. After his wife’s death, his elder daughter studied out of state while his younger daughter lived with him. He took advantage of the situation and began sexually abusing her.

The ordeal lasted four years but the victim, feeling helpless in the absence of his mother, was unable to disclose the matter. When she couldn’t take it anymore, she confided in her older sister and then, with the help of her uncle, her father’s brother, she turned to the police and filed a report. According to the complaint, the victim was last sexually abused by her father on October 6th.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested the accused father from Sector 15 in Rourkela on Thursday evening and produced him in court today. Further investigation is underway and all necessary measures will be taken to bring justice to the girl, official sources said.
