Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff’s controversies take center stage on Bill Maher’s show: “He definitely took a hit…”

Kamala Harris’ husband and second gentleman, Doug Emhoff, was portrayed as a feminist ally and a positive figure of masculinity. However, according to The Atlantic’s Tim Alberta, he ultimately became a “problem” for the vice president’s campaign that he “must now deal with.”

Emhoff recently became a topic Real time Host Bill Maher made a fool of himself when he addressed how the media stayed away from his controversies. “There’s a lot of talk about Doug in the news this week,” Maher said in a panel discussion on a segment of his HBO show. “If people don’t know what’s going on, the Daily Mail reports on three women [Emhoff’s ex-girlfriend] I spoke to her at the same time, which was very often the standard in these cases, that back in I think 2011 or something, she said they were at the Cannes Film Festival. He hit her. He thought she was flirting with the valet.

Conservative and Liberal Media Not Covering Doug Emhoff Controversies: Bill Maher

Maher also laughed at confirming that “he definitely blew the nanny away.” He continued: “What I’m saying is whether this is becoming more credible – and we don’t know yet.” I mean, a lot of the conservative media still isn’t reporting it, so I wouldn’t condemn anyone who hasn’t reported it yet , because these things need to be checked. But if it becomes more credible, certainly at the level of Brett Kavanaugh, which was reported by everyone pretty quickly. Does the liberal media continue to ignore it?”

Conservative radio host Buck Sexton responded, “Yes, they will. Absolutely.”

Maher then asked, “Wouldn’t that make it look worse?”

CNN’s Laura Coates ultimately said that it was “fair” to further investigate the claims and verify their authenticity, and that given the serious implications of the allegations against Emhoff, it was understandable why the media cautiously avoided the issue. Nevertheless, she continued: “What I don’t think is fair is – and I am consistent in every way – without more tar and feathers.”

“I think you have to give people information and you have to actually do your homework and your background. I’m not thinking of not reporting – and again, I’m not familiar with all the allegations at play here, but I think it’s appropriate to investigate, as it’s appropriate to be cautious before jumping into something the ether has these reasons.”

Doug Emhoff’s response to the allegations

Harris’ husband released a statement confirming that an extramarital affair with the family nanny had ended his marriage to his first wife, Kerstin Emhoff. The claims also said he impregnated the nanny.

“During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through difficult times because of my actions,” Emhoff said in a statement after DailyMail published a bombshell report. “I took responsibility, and in the years that followed, we handled things as a family and came out stronger on the other side.”

More damning allegations followed when the British tabloid wrote that he “violently” slapped his then-girlfriend in 2012 and engaged in “inappropriate” and “misogynistic” office behavior while running the Venable law firm in Los Angeles from 2006 to 2017.

Earlier this month, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough brought up several “tabloid stories about your personal life” during an interview with Emhoff on “Morning Joe,” citing DailyMail reporting. However, the second gentleman merely dismissed these allegations without actually denying the allegations. “We don’t have time to be mad,” Emhoff replied. “We don’t have time to focus on this. It’s all a distraction. It’s to try and take us out of the game.”
