Cedar Park police investigate rumors of a school shooting and find no threat

CEDAR PARK, Texas – Cedar Park Police responded to rumors circulating on social media about a possible school shooting at Cedar Park Middle School.

In a statement released via social media, the department confirmed that investigators are actively investigating the allegations, but stressed that there is currently no evidence of a credible threat.

“We are aware of school shooting rumors circulating on social media related to Cedar Park Middle School,” the tweet said. “At this time there is no evidence of a credible threat.”

Police reiterated the seriousness of making threats against schools, whether genuine threats or hoaxes, and said such actions would be considered crimes.

Parents and community members are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

The investigation is still ongoing.
