NYPD investigates attempted child abduction in the Bronx

BRONX, NY – Police reports say a woman and her 2-year-old child were followed into a laundry room by an unknown person Tuesday evening. The incident occurred at 988 East 180th Street around 6:50 p.m.

The suspect is said to have grabbed the 23-year-old woman by the arm and asked her to hand over her child. The mother was able to escape the person, police said, but the child was not harmed.

After the confrontation, the person fled the scene and took the elevator to the 12th floor of the building, authorities reported. No injuries were sustained during the incident.

The law enforcement investigation continues and there have been no arrests as of Wednesday.
