Farmer dies in tragic bee attack in Kodagu

Madikeri: A tragic incident took place in Nittoor on Tuesday evening. Kodaguwhere a farmer, Kottagada Poonachcha, 72, lost his life after a sudden bee attack near Bhairava Temple. Police reported that he was returning home after work on his property when he encountered a swarm of bees.

Despite his cries for help, it was too late for Poonachcha. Temple committee president Mechanda Vasu Somaiah and secretary Kottagada Madhu, who were present at the temple, rushed to help him but were also attacked by the bees.

Poonachcha was immediately taken to Balele Primary Health Center for first aid. However, when he was taken to Gonikoppal Hospital for further treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased leaves behind his wife and two children. A case has been registered at Ponnampet police station.
