About Project 20

PROJECT 20 is a “seasoned” five-piece rock band with three guitars, bass and drums, playing an eclectic mix of “classic” 20th century mainstream rock, off-stream rock and original music.

Ron Pace – Guitar/Vocals Ron Pace has been a music educator, singer and guitarist in the metropolitan area for more than forty years. He was a full-time choir director and guitar teacher in Brentwood Public Schools for thirty-seven years and currently directs an after-school guitar program for Brentwood High School. He is very familiar with the playing styles of classical, rock, blues and jazz and has played professionally in these styles. Over the years, Ron has maintained an active career as a musician. In recent years, some of his pieces have been featured on several television shows. Ron now performs regularly with the PDP Jazz Trio and Project 20.

Gary Passavia – Guitar/Vocals Gary is a self-taught rock guitarist, singer and songwriter who was drawn to the Beatles and the British musical invasion of the 60s. He initially studied music and learned the basics of classical guitar in college, which expanded his interest in other forms of music. Gary was a founding member of the popular Long Island progressive rock group Harlequin, which evolved from a series of club bands and original music projects in the 1970s. The band was heavily influenced by Genesis’ musical creativity and frontman Peter Gabriel’s dramatic flair. He currently performs with the PDP Jazz Trio and (Rock) Project 20.

Mike Sharp – guitar/vocals Michael was born in north London and was inspired by the folk and skiffle boom of the 60s. He began playing guitar as a teenager and was soon playing both keyboards and guitar with local bands, including one with Nick Lowe. He emigrated to the United States when he was 20 and has been part of the Long Island music scene ever since, playing in bands such as The Soul Brothers, Boss Ross Blues, The John Ford Band, The Phantom Blues Band, 12 Gauge Country and The Barking Men and currently Project 20. Mike has his own project recording studio on the North Shore of Long Island and has created records for Blue Ruin, Scott Ross and other local artists.

Frank Cannon – Drums/Percussion For over 45 years, Frank has performed as a drummer and orchestral percussionist in over 200 musicals in theaters and throughout the Northeast as a pit musician, working with members of Dancing With The Stars, Tony Award-winning actors and other Broadway actors. He is proud to play with some of Long Island’s finest musicians in the rock group Project 20.

Henry Diaz – Bass/Vocals Henry Diaz is a guitarist/bassist and singer/songwriter from Suffolk County who has been playing in bands since he was a teenager. He has performed both solo and in bands of up to 8 members, covering many genres including rock, folk, country, prog-rock, pop, “wedding band” and original music. Henry’s past and current band projects include The Blue Light Society (’68), Sterling (’74), Harlequin (’76), Kristhen (90s), Caitlyn Amanda & the Enablers (’05) and A Steely Dan Tribute Band (2023 ) and currently performs with The Karpenteers (A Carpenters Tribute -2016) and (Rock) Project 20 (2020).
