Emergency vehicles are pictured at a construction site in Lehi, where a man was found dead on Thursday morning, October 17, 2024.

A man was found dead Thursday morning at a Lehi construction site on 1200 West near Timpanogos Highway, where his body was pressed against a forklift, the Lehi Fire Department said.

According to a press release, the wife of the deceased found that he had not returned home from work on Thursday morning. While searching for him, she went to the construction site where she found his body along with members of the construction team who assisted her. Rescue workers were on site around 8 a.m

Lehi officials have not identified the man or his age.

According to the news release, the man was found strapped to a forklift.

“So it appeared that the patient had been working on a forklift and somehow got trapped,” Battalion Chief Shad Hatfield told reporters during a briefing Thursday afternoon. “The boom trapped him between the engine compartment, the cab and the boom.”

Officials say they are investigating exactly what happened, but it is unclear what job the victim was doing at the time of the incident.

It is not known whether the man was alone at the construction site and when he arrived. However, according to the press release, it is believed he may have died overnight.

The Lehi Fire Department worked with various agencies from throughout Utah County, including the Utah County Special Response Team, to remove the man’s body from the construction equipment.

Crews began leaving the area at 3 p.m.

Spokeswoman Jeanteil Livingston said more information could be released as it becomes available.
