Fatal crash on NW US Highway 19 in Levy County

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, a fatal crash occurred after an SUV crossed into another lane and struck a vehicle.

On Thursday evening, the 63-year-old driver from Chiefland, Florida, crossed into a separate lane on Northwest 60th St. as he approached Northwest US Highway 19 and crashed into a pickup truck.

The driver of the SUV was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger of the other vehicle only suffered minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
