CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – If you like scary movies and haven’t seen them yet, you’ll find them here!

Horror films have been around since around 1886, when Georges Melies, a French filmmaker, made a short film called “Le Manoir du Diable,” or “The Haunted Mansion.” The film was only three minutes long and featured witches, demons and special effects that created supernatural events.

Horror films are an important part of film culture with classic and influential works that continue to captivate audiences. The aim is to evoke strong emotional reactions in the viewer, ranging from fear and anxiety to shock and disgust.

A study conducted by VIP Grinders analyzed fear-related words in movie scripts and data from Scary Meter, which asks horror fans to rate films based on how “scary,” “jumpy,” and “gory” they are.

“Whether you’re a fan of horror films year-round or are desperate to get into the Halloween spirit, these films are guaranteed to give you the thrill and excitement you’re looking for,” said Telma Casaca, Head of Publishing at said VIP Grinders.
