One dead after head-on collision in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. – One person has died in a head-on collision Thursday morning.

Several WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tipsters came forward to let us know about a wreck near the 2700 block of Harts Bridge Road in southeast Madison County.

When our crew arrived, they found Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies on scene where a white SUV was being loaded onto a tow truck.

We also observed what looked like a damaged dump truck blocking the road.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 9:54 a.m. they were notified of a two-vehicle accident involving injuries

The sheriff’s office said Madison County Fire and EMS also responded to the scene and provided first aid. However, it was discovered that one of the drivers was dead at the scene of the accident.

According to the sheriff’s office, an initial investigation indicates the accident was a head-on collision.

At this time the identity of the deceased has not been confirmed.

A sheriff’s office paramedic is conducting a thorough investigation with assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
