Prophecy Official Trailer for Max Series Premiere Date

After releasing two teasers, Max revealed the official trailer for the upcoming Legendary prequel series on Thursday Dune: Prophecy and set a hard premiere date of November 17th.

The news broke today during the series’ panel discussion at New York Comic Con. Watch the trailer above.

The series is set 10,000 years before the rise of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides in the Denis Villeneuve-directed films. It follows two Harkonnen sisters who fight against forces that threaten the future of humanity and create the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. To you, they are like Jedi sisters in Frank Herbert’s novels star Wars people out there.

Dune: Prophecy will consist of six episodes. The series has been in the works since HBO Max’s inception five years ago.

During today’s NYCC panel, attendees saw the trailer, which features Watson as the robed and menacing head of the powerful Sisterhood with the goal of, in their words, “advancing our species and ruling the future.” Amid shots of sprawling alien landscapes and soaring temple-like interiors, Emily Watson’s Valya Harkonnen says, “Now is the time to secure the throne and protect the empire.”

Valya and her sister Tula (Olivia Williams) are seen putting their plans into action, and Mark Strong appears as the Emperor, who says if he loses control of one of Dune’s key worlds, the desert planet Arrakis, home of the Spice that provides the energy During his interplanetary journey, his enemies will feed him “to the worm” – a reference to Dune’s giant, spice-producing annelids.

Travis Fimmel also appears as Desmond Hart, another possible rival to the women training a generation of powerful female mystics.

The trailer ends with Watson wryly saying, “I run a school for young women. We pose no threat to anyone.”

The series, which underwent several major casting, script and directing changes as it navigated a pandemic and strikes, stars Watson, Williams, Fimmel, Jodhi May, Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka , Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning and Yerin Ha.

Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and EP. Diane Ademu-John was among those who were eliminated early on. She co-developed the series and is an EP. Anna Foerster served as executive producer and director of several episodes, including the first. The Frank Herbert estate is executive produced by Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns and Jon Spaihts, author Brian Herbert, and Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert. Author Kevin J. Anderson serves as co-producer.

Two are legendary dune Films released by Warner Bros. have grossed a total of more than $1.1 billion at the global box office. A third film is in the works.
