Kearney man charged with sexual assault of a child

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) – A Kearney man is facing child molestation charges out of Buffalo County.

Zachary Cole, 26, is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child.

According to Buffalo County Court records, Cole is accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old earlier this year.

At the prosecutor’s request, the court sealed the affidavit detailing the case. The court order said it contained sensitive information to the investigation and could jeopardize the safety of key witnesses.

The judge set Cole’s bond at 10 percent of $1 million. He was also ordered not to have any direct or indirect contact with the victim.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 13 at 3:30 p.m.
