Philadelphia police have arrested a man allegedly in connection with a shooting in West Philadelphia last Saturday that resulted in a The shooting victim later arrived at Penn Presbyterian Hospital for help and ended up getting hit by a car.

Humza Mitchell, 20, of Kingsessing, was charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, simple assault and other related offenses, according to a police release.

On Oct. 12, a silver Jeep Cherokee dropped off the 28-year-old shooting victim at Penn Presbyterian Hospital on the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue, and police said the Jeep met three emergency room nurses and the 28-year-old who was lying on the stretcher in the ambulance area.

The 28-year-old was recently in critical condition with an additional head injury.

According to the police, a nurse, a 36-year-old man, was recently in a critical phase with facial injuries and internal bleeding. The other two caregivers, a 51-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, are in stable condition.

That incident also involved a 2012 Chevy Malibu entering the bay behind the Jeep, according to police, and the Malibu driver, later identified as Mitchell, said he was looking for the 28-year-old shooting victim. According to the news release, the Malibu’s rear window was shot out and Mitchell was uncooperative with police.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue in the Parkside neighborhood of West Philadelphia and said there were two separate groups of fired shell casings. The investigation further revealed that Mitchell “was actively involved in the shooting at 1300 Belmont Avenue prior to his arrival at Penn Presbyterian Hospital,” police said.

The driver of the silver Jeep, later identified as Jaadir GoodwynThe 20-year-old turned himself in to police on October 16 after being wanted on several charges.
