The Ontario Hockey League says it will cooperate with an investigation into allegations of sexual assault

TORONTO – The Ontario Hockey League said Thursday it takes sexual assault allegations against eight former players “very seriously” and will cooperate with any police investigation.

In a CTV report that aired Wednesday, a woman said she was sexually assaulted by eight OHL players in November 2014 at a home occupied by a 19-year-old player she was dating while he played in the league. She said some of the players went on to play in the NHL.

The woman, now 32, said she filed a report with Ontario Provincial Police earlier this year.

The OHL said in its statement that it only learned of allegations of sexual harassment on Wednesday.

The NHL said it was “deeply disturbed by any allegation of this nature. “We have no information beyond (Wednesday evening’s) media report.”

The CTV report did not name the players allegedly involved and none of the allegations have been tested in court.

The report comes as Hockey Canada continues to address allegations of sexual assault against players on its 2016 and 2003 junior national teams.
